Nordic community builder has secured a turnkey contract to construct a new building for Langhaugen High School in Bergen, Norway.

Commissioned by Vestland Municipality, the contract is valued at Nkr257m ($24.25m).

The development follows a collaborative phase that commenced in late 2022 and will see the school’s capacity increase to accommodate a total of 720 students.

The total school area will be expanded by 6,600m².

The new building will feature rooms for the subjects of dance, sports, music, and science.

Additionally, the project will include the surrounding grounds and a link between the existing and new structures.

Solar panels will be added to the site’s roof, and the aforementioned sports hall will be constructed beneath the ground floor of the new building.

Peab region manager Kjetil Nordang said: “It’s rewarding to work together with such a competent customer as Vestland Municipality. The collaboration phase has enabled us to take advantage of each other’s expertise and experience to achieve the best possible project and result.

“It’s particularly important that we can carry out this project in a way that is safe for students, personnel and the school’s neighbours.†

Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2024 and is set to span two years.

The project will be recorded in Peab’s order book for the first quarter of 2024.

Last month, Peab received a turnkey contract to build apartments, offices, and a garage in Jönköping, Sweden.Â
