Nordic construction company has secured a refurbishment and remodelling housing contract in Frederikssund on Zealand, Denmark.

The project, which involves 402 residential units, is being carried out on behalf of the public housing companies Domea and Boligselskabet Vores Bolig. It has an order value of approximately Skr320m ($34m).

The refurbishment and remodelling of the residential units are part of a comprehensive upgrade plan for the Græse Bakkeby area, a project that has been underway for roughly ten years.

The residential portfolio includes row houses and one- to three-storey apartment blocks, all constructed in the 1980s.

NCC Building Nordics head Catarina Molén-Runnäs said: “NCC is currently renovating 2,700 residential units across Denmark. Major and extensive refurbishment projects like this one in Frederikssund constitute one of our core competencies.

“Success factors comprise good planning, clear project management, and using a team with solid experience from similar projects.”

The company’s tasks encompass the renovation of facades and roofs, the replacement of insulation and ventilation systems, and the enhancement of the outdoor environment.

Additionally, 60 of the residential units will be adapted to improve accessibility.

The work is set to start at the end of 2024 and is anticipated to be concluded in 2027.

This contract will be registered in the NCC Building Nordics business area in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Recently, NCC said it had already begun the first phase of a refurbishment plan for the Taastrupgaard district, east of Copenhagen, Denmark.

This project, worth Skr400m, involves the renovation of 184 rental apartments managed by KAB and AKB Taastrup, with completion anticipated by the end of 2026.
