The HALO Urban Regeneration Company has awarded a multimillion contract to Morrison Construction for Phase 1 of the Enterprise and Innovation Hub project in Kilmarnock, Scotland.
The £63m brownfield urban regeneration project will be built on the 23-acre site, which was the home of Scotch whisky brand Johnnie Walker.
Morrison Construction managing director Eddie Robertson said: ‘‘We are delighted to be appointed the main contractor to build the Enterprise and Innovation Hub, a development that will revitalise the town centre and support the wider Ayrshire economy.â€
The hub will feature an advanced building, virtual and augmented reality-based scenario training facilities, living labs, evaluation of digital technology office and workspace.
The HALO site will provide employment opportunities, economic growth and skill development, as well as access to clean energy and housing.
Construction will start by the end of this month and is expected to be completed by January 2021. Around 700 construction workers will be recruited during the construction phase.
