CHA, an engineering, consulting, and construction management company, has announced the acquisition of Civil Engineering Consulting Services (CECS), a US-based transportation engineering business.

This deal brings 85 new employees to CHA and extends its services in the south-east US region.

CHA Holdings CEO Jim Stephenson said: “The acquisition of CECS is a complementary addition to CHA’s rapidly expanding south-east transportation services. With continued investments being made at the federal and state levels to address ageing infrastructure, CHA’s innovative and integrated solutions are positioned to deliver on these growing needs.

“We welcome the talented CECS team to CHA and look forward to working together to expand our combined services and address our clients’ needs.â€

CECS, known for its project management, construction inspection engineering, highway design, and other core services, will rebrand and operate as CHA.

CECS president Cathy Raad said: “We are thrilled to be joining CHA, a like-minded firm that invests in its employees and is committed to the highest quality client outcomes.

“By joining forces with CHA, we see many synergies that will strengthen our presence across South Carolina and expand the breadth of services we offer our clients.”

With the integration of CECS, CHA now boasts a staff count of over 2,000 people across more than 45 offices, spanning from Canada to Florida and into the Midwest US.

CHA Infrastructure Sector president John Hensley said: “The CECS staff will be a great addition to our growing transportation team, strengthening our ability to provide innovative solutions to state, county, and local municipalities as we jointly address our clients’ challenges.

“Our combined team will represent one of the deepest benches of infrastructure talent along the eastern seaboard, and we’ll be even better positioned to deliver exceptional value to our transportation clients.â€

This deal marks CHA’s second acquisition of 2024. In March, it acquired D’Huy Engineering, an engineering and project management company that serves clients in the educational, municipal, commercial, and industrial sectors.
